Not really sure how I got this old.
I mean, I sometimes get asked if I’m a summer intern. If we’re at lunch with co-workers and we sit in the bar area, I’ve been asked by our server to see my I.D…. when I didn’t even order a cocktail. However, somehow, I just said my farewells to my 3rd intern, and I just had my first job shadow….
and WHEW. It was a relief. Apparently at her last job shadow, the guy sat a seat behind his and he worked for 8 hours while she watched. So I was determined not to bring this potential student into the BSU college of education to become a teacher. (not that there is anything wrong with teachers- but I would just feel bad if I was so boring i changed her entire career goals). Anyhow- it turned out pretty decent.
I had a product shot I wasn’t able to get to in the studio so I told our photographer to bring his camera in on that day. So we spent a couple hours in the morning setting up lighting for the shoot and I let her style some of the photos and play around with that. Then I had her take what we shot and build an ad for it. That took her a good portion of the day- especially since she doesn’t really know the programs. Then when she was done, I showed her how to make a logo using her name and let her toy around with that.
Her mom said she’s still interested in attending BSU for their graphic design, and she siad she wasn’t bored and was even a bit more jazzed about it. SCORE. Ashlie win.
